FOUNDER OF FUTURESELFARCHITECT.COM & AND A PROUD AMBASSADOR OF LAUNCH YOU

In short, I am a work in progress! As are we all. But to be a little more specific, my name is Luke. Born and raised in the UK, and now living in New Zealand since 2016.

Below I'll share my mission, vision, background and intentions, should you care to explore them.

MY MISSION

It is my mission to empower, educate and support you in achieving your version of success, however that looks to you. My intention is to deliver this through sharing insights and guidance, and by providing access to programs and resources, all of which have positively impacted me on my own journey to becoming the best version of myself I can be.

MY VISION

Abraham Maslow said "what [one] can be, [one] must be". And so it is my vision to create an ecosystem for a community of go-getters seeking personal transformation. A place where dream-chasers can find all the resources, insights and inspiration they can get their hands on in the pursuit of becoming that future self they aspire to be.

MY WHY

Because helping others and contributing is the most rewarding thing there is. The synergy of the selfish and unselfish. This is where I find meaning.

MY BACKGROUND

These days I consider myself to be moving in a direction in alignment somewhat with who I am but more so who I aspire to be - my "future self". But that's not always been the case. It took me a long time to discover not only what direction to aim in and not only how to aim in a particular direction in life, but first to discover that aiming at something at all was even a thing.

For at least the least the first 25 years of my life I didn't really have a clue. After finishing secondary school at 16, my enthusiasm for learning was non-existent. So after three months of college I realised I had no obligation to be there and stopped attending. No more academia for me. Then followed dead end jobs, self-loathing, undesirable behaviour, and so on. I was lost. It wasn't until my early twenties that I managed to progress my interest in all things IT to a real job. There began a twinkle of self-worth but there wasn't really a real spark until later in my twenties. I discovered books for the first time since school. More specifically, I discovered that there existed books on "personal development", a whole subject previously unbeknown to me. Improving oneself. Wow. This had never occurred to me. The spark was well and truly lit.

In the ensuing years I became more and more interested in improving myself, including developing an interest in health and nutrition. What a discovery that was! I can put different things in my body and I actually feel good? I could think more clearly, had more energy. Without any previous point of reference, I didn't even know my previous state was sub-optimal. Then in more recent years I discovered the importance of personal finance. Something I'd earlier considered irrelevant and so I was totally ignorant to how fundamental it was. But after reading Rich Dad, Poor Dad I was sold on its necessity. And I also realised I had an unhealthy relationship with money. Deeply buried self-liming beliefs had prevented me my entire life to be able to make any progress towards financial stability and towards wealth.

And so the journey of radical transformation in these fundamental areas of life continued. So now, at the age of 35, I've managed to get myself to a place where I feel physically, mentally, and financially stable. But now what? That's where self-actualisation comes in. I've kind of become a little obsessed with self-actualisation. A term coined by Abraham Maslow in the 1960's, it's the pursuit of becoming everything one can be. And the pursuit itself is rewarding. Reflecting every day, week, month, on where one has made progress, even simply in building and maintaining a simple habit, is extremely rewarding providing a sense of strength, grow, and discipline. And so I want to support others pursue their dreams and share what's worked for me.

MY INTENTION

Since going from aimlessly meandering through life, lacking any clear direction whatsoever, to a somewhat functioning human being, I eventually came to a realisation that I might now actually have the mental capacity to give back. To "pay it forward". I feel I can relate to people who feel stuck in a rut, don't know where to turn, living paycheck to paycheck, hand to mouth, so to speak, and not knowing not only the first step to take, but not even knowing in which direction that step should be. I want to help others find some stability in life and work towards realising the potential that's hiding deep inside them. I believe everyone has that potential but for whatever reason is unable to get off on the right foot and establish a foundation.

There are two "disciplines" that I've found to be imperative to a strong foundation when pursuing "everything that one can be". I consider those to be physical health (nurturing and strengthening the meat vessel we all occupy) and mental health (psychology and mindset). When these pillars are both strong and stable, I believe anything is possible. Focusing on both has definitely contributed to my well-being and progress in a huge way.

Aside from those, I also believe that time and financial freedom is of a huge importance to achieving self-actualisation.

Money isn't everything, that's for sure. But it's definitely something. A global study finding that 85% of people hate their jobs and another claiming the majority of people fear being broke and penniless more than they fear death, points to money being quite important (to an extent) to one's mental health. Therefore my other desire is to help people reach a place in their life where they no longer worry about money. That doesn't mean a yacht and a Ferrari. It just means not having to worry about it. To help people make the switch from being involuntarily extrinsically motivated - having to pay bills and stay afloat - to being intrinsically motivated - living intentionally according to one’s purpose and values. Can you imagine a life like that? Imagine how much time and energy you would have if your thoughts weren't consumed worrying about your finances. Imagine the freedom.

So that's the aim of this site. To assist people in becoming the architect of their desired future self, whoever that might be.

I'll leave you with my favourite quote of the legendary Jim Rohn:

"For things to change, you have to change."

To your future self!
